Let’s explore flat nesting. This article will help you:
- Identify different nesting options
- Create nests
- View nests
- Define nesting parameters
Let's begin by defining the nesting options available in SecturaFAB. These options include:
- Nest – Nests each line item in the quote individually in their own nests
- Single Part Nest – Nests each line item in the quote individually in their own nests
- Multi Part Nest – Nests all line items in the quote together based on material thickness and material type
- Multi Part Nest — Selected Items – Nests any highlighted line items together based on material and material type
- Best Sheet — Nests all line items in the quote together based on material thickness and material type with the highest optimization of material possible
- Best Sheet – Selected Items — Nests any highlighted line items together based on material and material type with the highest optimization of material possible
- Clear Nest – Clears all nests
Now let's learn how to nest flat items.
1. Select the “Nest” from the global action menu to single part nest every line item in the quote. For other options, select the dropdown arrow to choose muti-nest, or best sheet nest.
2. After nesting your line items, you can view the nests by going to the “Nested Results” tab in the quote.
3. Select the nest you would like to view using the arrows in the “Nested Results” screen.
4. Select the “Results” tab inside of the nest you are viewing to view the final sheet of the selected nested result.
5. Select the preferred sheet size you would like to use OR enter the specific dimensions of the sheet size you would like to use and the dimensions for your Clearance and Edge Distance.
- Clearance – the spacing between the edges of nested parts
- Edge Distance – the distance of the parts on the border from the edge of the sheet.
6. Once you have adjusted the nesting sheet size to your specifications, select "Renest" to apply the changes. Information including Number of Sheets and Sheet weight is displayed. Find out more about nesting options in our knowledgebase.
