Discover SecturaFAB’s Punch Combo operation and calculators. Distinguish between what can be laser cut and punched on a single file and calculate accurate times.
1. First you will need to quick add a punch combo operation. Learn more about how to use “quick add” for a punch combo operation in our resource center. After the operation is added let’s explore the equipment. Select “Equipment” from the production settings.
2. Highlight the new punch combo equipment. In this example, it is named “New Punch Combo.” Then, select “Edit.”
3. What makes a punch combo operation unique in SecturaFAB is the machine file. Let’s explore it. Select “Edit” to open the file in SecturaFAB.
4. Once the machine file is opened, define machine parameters for both the punch combo or punch machine such as:
- Rapid Feedrate – The maximum rate of feed speed achievable by the machine.
- Dead Zone — An area where the machine does not respond as the values are too small to react.
- Only Single Hits – When selected, the punch time will be calculated with single hits. When unselected, the punch time will be calculated as multiple hits.
- Maximum Hit Count – The maximum number of hits per part.
All values can be changed to fit your quoting preferences. Check out additional definitions in our SecturaFAB Glossary of Terms.
5. Furthermore, you can also adjust the machine parameters for the profile such as:
- Corner Acceleration – Rate of speed to cut corners.
- Multihead – Checkbox for a multiheaded laser.
- Head Up/Down Time – Accounted time for the laser head changing position.
- Item Load Time – Accounted time for a new piece of material to be loaded.
Select “Save” after filling in the parameters as needed.
6. Also, unique to the Punch Combo operation, the equipment page showcases two capability names. These fields can be edited to ensure a tag is applied to the quote. Let’s now add this operation to a quote.
7. First, let’s add a shape from our shape library. If you need more information on using the shape library, use our resource center. Select the machine as your new punch combo operation.
8. Once the shape is added, select the three dots tab to explore the number of tools used, hit count and time associated with the operation.
9. You are also able to add and assign specific punches when uploading a CAD file. After uploading the CAD file, select “Edit DXF.”
10. Identify the holes needing to be punched by either holding control on your keyboard and selecting the individual holes or click, hold and drag over the image to select multiple. Then, select “Punch” to complete the identification of the punch holes.
11. Select the machine as the new punch combo operation during the adjust properties stage. Then select “Finish” to add it to the quote.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully learned how to add a punch combo operation to a quote and distinguish between what is to be laser cut and punched through both the shape library and uploading a CAD file.
