Preferred routing allows operations to be set in a specific sequence for fabricating efficiency. An Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP), when integrated, is designed to accommodate this feature. Contact our Support team to ensure its functionality.
Let's explore how to set that up.
1. Select “Routings” from the Production settings.
2. Default routing options are based on product type and include:
- Assembly
- Bar
- Pipe
- Plate
- Structural
- Tube
3. Select “Add” to create a new preferred routing option.
4. In this example, let’s create a preferred routing for component products. Fill in the following information:
- Name: Component
- Description: Component Routing
- Product: Component
- Routing Type: Production
- Preferred Routing: Selected
- Enabled: Selected
5. The list of blue operation codes indicates all the available operations that can be routed for the component product type. Drag and drop the operation codes to start the routing list. The operation codes will change to green once designated as preferred.
6. Select “Create.”
7. Command actions from the routings menu include:
- Refresh: Refresh the table to account for any edits that may not be reflected.
- Add: Add a new preferred routing option.
- Copy: Copy an existing routing option.
- View: View routing details.
- Edit: Edit an existing routing option.
- Delete: Delete an existing routing option.
8. Select “Edit” on an existing routing option. In this example, let’s edit “Bar.”
9. Drag and drop the operations to adjust the preferred order or add more operations to be routed. Select “Update” once satisfied.
10. Now, let’s build a quote. Preferred routing operation tags will be orange and apply in the preferred order automatically, while operations not included in preferred routing will be gray. Learn more about how to enable and disable preferred routing in our resource center.
