Bulk Adjustments & Exporting Costs
Create a New Cost
1. Creating or editing costs in the settings allows for reflecting new materials/services, adjusting prices, ensuring accuracy, and optimizing profit margins. Select “Costs” within the “Preferences and Costs” settings to begin.
2. Select "Add."
3. Create a new cost by filling in the required cost parameters. These include:
- Name – The name of the cost.
- Cost type – The dependent variable which includes weight, length, etc.
- Units – The measured units of the cost which change depending on the cost type.
- Cost – The value of this cost.
- Price – The price of this cost.
Additional optional parameters include:
- Price Book – Find out more about price books in our resource center.
- Material – Assign a specific material to be used with this cost.
- Thickness – Assign a specific thickness to be used with this cost.
- External Reference – A unique identifier when exporting costs to an enterprise resource planner (ERP).
- Currency – Defaults to the organization's currency setting.
- Burden – Additional costs such as labor associated with this cost.
4. Select "Create."
Now that you have successfully created a new cost, let’s explore how to manually edit costs in SecturaFAB.
Manually Adjusting Costs
1. Expand a quoted line item to view the “Primary Costs” tab.
2. In the “Primary Costs” tab, you have the option to adjust costs for material and primary operations. Let’s adjust the material cost.
3. Adjust the material cost to “0.75.” This will increase any calculated component dependent on material cost. Notice the field name “Material Cost” is now red to account for the change. Learn more about manually editing prices in our resource center.
Now, let’s discover how to do bulk cost adjustments and export costs. This will allow you to save time when you need to adjust multiple costs at once.

1. Within the ‘Costs” menu, you can export all the costs. Select “Export.”
2. A CSV will then download which can be opened in Excel. Make bulk changes here and select “Import” to update the costs in SecturaFAB with your new CSV.
